Sha'arei Ha-Kotel (Gates of the Kotel) House

שערי הכותלThis building was also home to Jewish families until the riots of 5689.  One of these was the Grober family.  The Grobers descended from Rabbi Yisrael of Shaklov, leader of the Vilna Gaon's students, who made aliyah with many of them.  The father of the Grober family was one of the most important protectors of the Old City and a was comrade-in-arms of Yitzchak ben Tzvi (second President of the State of Israel).  He was seriously wounded during the riots, but with incredible fortitude, saved himself from the blood-thirsty rioters.

Following the serious unrest, and under threats from the Arabs neighbors, the family snuck outside of the Old City.

שערי הכותלThis building, which is just a few short minutes from the Kotel, serves today as the Beit Midrash for the students of the Ateret Yerushalayim's Pre-Military Academy.
